Model T Ford
The Model T brought great mobility and prosperity on a large scale through manufacturing efficiencies at a price that anyone could afford. The Model T was first produced early 1900's by Ford's Motor Company but then its popularity exploded in the 1920's. It is regarded as the first affordable automobile for the American working class. The assembly line helped make these cars affordable instead of the individual hand crafting. It has a 177-cubic-inch (2.9 L) front-mounted 20 horse power inline four cylinder engine which gave the Model T a top speed of 45 mph. It was offered in 2, 5, and 7 seat cars all in black. The price dropped tremendously to $260 by the end of 1926.
The Assembly Line
Henry Ford introduced the idea of moving the assembly of the product to the individual components and having specialized people install just their component. This increased the production rates tremendously, and lowered product costs. The resulting low cost of the Model-T made them affordable and brought automobiles to the masses.
